Poquoson Club Member Tichard Bachmann Honored

Poquoson Primary School will honor Poquoson Kiwanis member and long-time volunteer tutor Mr. Richard E. Bachmann January 8, 2008 in a ceremony at 2:30 p.m. in the Primary School library to name that library in his honor. Dick led the effort to establish the Tutoring At Poquoson Primary School, or TAPPS, program over fifteen years ago and coordinated the Kiwanis volunteers for tutoring reading for many years. Through his leadership, that program has grown and helped and is helping many primary school students get a reading "head start." The success of that program also inspired a second program for tutoring math at the Poquoson Middle School. The Poquoson School Superintendent and Kiwanis member Jennifer Parish is expected to attend. Dr. Michael Condrey, Poquoson Kiwanis President, will conduct the ceremony.
