Rehoboth
Beach Club - Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser
by Rosemary Cummings
Now it really is not news
that another Kiwanis Club had a pancake breakfast fundraiser.
What made the Rehoboth Beach Kiwanis Club so special
is that the entire Kiwanis Family served the Pancake
Breakfast as a community fundraiser at Applebee's Restaurant
in Rehoboth in December. It truly was a family event,
as over 40 Kiwanians, K-Kids, Key Clubbers, and even
parents, worked side by side from 7:30 -11 AM serving
pancakes, pouring beverages, bussing tables, and setting
tables for the friends and families, who started their
morning with Pancakes and sausage, before heading to
the Outlets for Christmas shopping. Teams of K-Kids
and Key Club members worked together to serve the patrons,
many meeting for the first time and really having fun
together. Customers raved about the excellent service
(and even gave large tips), and the K-Kids asked when
they could volunteer again. Kudos goes to Kiwanian,
Jim Kunkle for arranging the logistics and publicity
for this successful event and to all the members who
sold the tickets. A special thank you goes to the Rehoboth Beach Applebee's and their staff
for making the event possible. Management hinted the
Key Club members may even have jobs there during the
busy season. This was the first time in many years
the Rehoboth Beach Kiwanis Club had this type fundraiser
and certainly a first, for the Kiwanians collaborating
with their Sponsored Club members.
