New Capital District Web Site Features Directory!
by Jeffrey M. Wolff

Happy New Year! The start of 2009 brings a new technical resource to all Kiwanians in the Capital District. This resource is a new online district directory to allow you to find contact information for any Kiwanian in the Capital District.

Currently, this application is in Beta Test. For those of you have never participated in a beta test, it means that the product is almost ready for everyone to use, but that we want a smaller group than "everyone" to test it and report any problems they encounter. This beta test will give us time to correct those problems before making it available to everyone.

The login page for the new District Directory is located at: http://capital.kiwanisone.org/public_district/pub_Content.aspx?Page=148

You will login with your email address and using the password "testpassword". Currently, ALL club presidents, club secretaries, club treasurers and club president-elects well as all members of the District Board of Trustees, Lt. Governors, District Committee Chairs and Foundation Board members have logins.

The directory has two different levels of access:

  1. Members - can edit their OWN contact information and view the contact information for any other member.
  2. Officers - can edit the contact information of ANY member of THEIR club only and view the contact information for any other member.

All club president and secretaries have "Officer" level access. All other club officers and members have "Member" level access.

We ask that you take a few moments to login to the database and try the following:

  1. Verify that your own contact record is correct. Use the "Edit Your Information" function to do this. If it is not, please update the necessary information and click "Update Database".
  2. Change your password from the default "testpassword" to something you can remember. (This is also done while using "Edit Your Information". If you ever forget your password, you can use the "Forgot Your Password" function available at the login screen.
  3. Try a few different searches using the "Search" function from the main menu.
  4. Display your club's roster (On the "Search" page)
  5. Using the "Add Members" function, try adding additional members of your club to the database.

Any questions you have or problems you encounter should be emailed to me directly. Please try to be as detailed as possible. If you found an error, please report the steps you took to reach that error.
