Virginia Beach Kiwanis Annual "Special Children's Fishing Trip"

For the past 26 years our club has sponsored 60- 120 special Children for a days outing on one of our Kiwanian's commercial fishing boats. To support us in this effort, not only do our members participate, but we have the support of our four Key Clubs. This year we did it on the 3rd of October. The day was a bit rainy and the wind was blowing, but we went anyway and fun was had by all. We provide each of the children and the support team with a bag lunch, water and softdrinks, plus a commemorative tee shirtwith the year's Logo and the names of the supporting companies and Individuals. Catching Fish, while one objective, is not the primary one. The primary objective is to get these special kids out for a days adventure. An experience they might not otherwise have. Over the years we have come to know many of the children as they come back each year, not only to try their luck fishing, but to renew friendships established on prior years fishing trips. Photos
