Mt. Airy Kiwanis Expresses Appreciation to Retiring State Trooper
by Bill Butts

Mt. Airy Kiwanis used one of its March meeting programs to say a special thanks to its much beloved resident State Police Trooper supervisor, Sgt. Palmer Grotte. After 27 years with the MD. State Police and the past 18 assigned to Mount Airy, Sgt. Grotte has announced his retirement, effective April 1. Sgt. Grotte remarked, "Mt. Airy is a special place. I enjoyed myself and 18 years later, I wonder where the time went." Mt. Airy and Walkersville are the last two municipalities in Maryland served by the Resident Trooper Program. Presenting a Kiwanis Certificate of Appreciation to Sgt. Grotte is Mt. Airy Kiwanis President, Stephanie Dahlquist.
