Mt.
Airy Kiwanis Donates School Supplies
by Bill Butts
The
Mount Airy, MD Kiwanis Club was pleased
to recently harvest a much larger than
expected donation of school supplies in
support of its Key Club at South Carroll
High School. A growing number of local
families and students are unable to afford
basic school supplies and in response,
the So. Carroll Key Club is collecting
the supplies for Carroll County Public
Schools to utilize as needed across the
county. The Mt. Airy Kiwanis Youth Services
Committee organized and coordinated the
effort. Pictured are some of the club members
who participated and helped with this project:
(Front Row, Left to Right) Joan Collins,
George Woodfield, Bob Wagner, Pat Norwood,
Geri Simon, Marion Taylor, Beth Jacobs,
Tom Walker, and (Back Row, Left to Right),
Paul Brown, and Leo Simon. (Since it's
very likely in these challenging economic
times that other counties and school districts
may be facing similar needs, we suggest
that you investigate if a partnered effort
of this type would be a worthwhile service
project in your community.)
