The
Kiwanis Club of Gloucester, Virginia, is
Chartered March 7th
by PG Bob Cressy
Some people think most Kiwanians 'hit the hay' when the sun sets. Not Really. After a day for most at the Hampton Roads Mid-Winter Conference, and after this beautiful sunset on the Chesapeake Bay at Gloucester, Virginia ... the NEW Kiwanis Club of Gloucester was just getting started.
The
new club meeting was opened and a wonderful
dinner was served by the Gloucester High
School Culinary Arts Program, Past Governor
John Tyner in support of his New Club Building
role introduced the visiting Kiwanians and
recognized Kiwanians who organized the club.
The Culinary Arts Program is a course of
study teaching high school students how to
manage and prepare food for large scale catering,
restaurant or hotel like functions. This
community service program is supported by
the new club. |

Two Melissa's are all smiles tonight. Melissa Alexander is Club Secretary and Melissa Crawford is Club Treasurer. Congratulations!
Governor Tom did what all Kiwanians should do: Don’t be shy, A.S.K. (Always Sell Kiwanis). After all the Charter members were introduced, Tom said "last chance to be a charter member. Going once, going twice. …" And two more stepped up. Tracy Lanum and Christine DeAlba, #40 and #41. Thanks, ladies! They were ready; their friends were already in!
Charter President Shannon Rose is presented the Gloucester Kiwanis Club Charter dated March 7, 2009, from Kiwanis International by Governor Tom Ganse and Immediate Past Governor Art Riley. This is a historic moment for the Club.
Of
course, LG Scott Zimmerman did not miss the
opportunity to induct Tracy Lanum and Christine
DeAlba on the spot as the newest new members.
Forty-one members. Now, that’s a great start!
Well done, all! |

Now
you remember I said, "when the sun goes
down …?" Well, here’s Missy Zimmerman, one
of
many dancing up a storm with all the night's
Kiwanians. So ended another Charter Night.
Fun! |
