Kiwanis Club of LaPlata Sponsors Miss MD Contestant
by Judi Gorney
The Kiwanis Club of LaPlata is helping to sponsor Lindsay A. Staniszewski, a contestant in the upcoming Miss Maryland pageant in Hagerstown in June.
Lindsay, who was the second runner up in the Miss Maryland Pageant in 2007 and 2008, is a graduate of Laplata High School and is currently a student at the University of Maryland College Park.
She is advocating her platform, Beyond the Borders of Beauty: the Dove Self-Esteem Fund, to girls ages 7-13 about the importance of real beauty - the kind of beauty found within. She has been an active member of the Queen for a Day Organization, dedicating her time to terminally ill children in local hospitals. Lindsay has raised thousands of dollars for the Children's Miracle Network. Most recently, she arranged a concert for the Children's Miracle Network at the Port Tobacco Players Theater in LaPlata.
The Kiwanis Club of LaPlata wishes Lindsay the best of luck. We are proud that she is one of our own. If you would like to help sponsor Lindsay, contact her at lindstan@umd.edu as soon as possible.
