Leisure World One Day
by Stanford crockett
Kiwanis International asks each club to set aside one special day when all sponsor a community service. In response to this request, our board voted to be a part of this April 3 event. Violet Morton was appointed as chair, to work through the Community Service Committee. They looked for a project which would not cost us a cent...and decided on a very unusual service. Unusually we serve human needs but this time we asked members to bring “old” towels, shaggy rugs, worn-out blankets to comfort animals at the animal shelter on Gude Drive. These were welcome gifts as the shelter has many pets which have been brought in because of the hard financial time. Mary Marcoux and Anna Lee Crockett filled their two cars and delivered the many bags and boxes right after our meeting. The dogs and cats will be happy...after a bath or while taking a nap. Many thanks to all!
