LaPlata Club One Day Project

Our Community Service Project for Kiwanis One Day was painting, wallpaper stripping, gardening & trash cleanup at the Catherine Foundation in Waldorf. We weeded & pruned bushes in a flower garden in front of the Foundation. We readied the garden by pulling out a dead bush making room for a new one to be planted soon. The guys cleaned up all kinds of stuff out of a ditch at the side of the property. Very interesting things were found in this ditch, things that we’re not at liberty to discuss (That’s why we had the guys do the cleaning up there!)! On Friday, our team went inside and did some patch work to get it ready for our Saturday painting when we painted the hallway, both walls & ceiling! In the kitchen, one wall was stripped of wallpaper (several layers of stuff) & we’ll get a team together to go back and paint after the rest of the wallpaper is stripped off the walls. We had lots of fun talking and laughing as we stripped off the wallpaper. Our team consisted of Terri Osburne, Emily Ferren, Bud Zimmerman, Betty Lindsay, Gordon Mann, Jonnie Mann & Kelley Jennings, CEO for the Foundation.
