Town Center Kiwanis
by Nancy Pindur
The Town Center Kiwanis - Virginia Beach has once again had a very busy month! Members attended the Great Bridge Club Celebration and the Governor's Official Visit on June 6,2010. Our dining out social this month was at the Freemason Abbey where our winning team for recruiting the most new members were treated to lobster dinners by Jerry Collier, a member and owner of the restaurant.
We cleared over $10,000 from our Golf Tournament last month which has proven to be our best so far in raising funds for our children's charities.
On June 10, 10 of our members attended a birthday celebration for Britain's Queen Elizabeth upon invitation through our NATO connection, Elizabeth Dietzman.
On Tuesday evening, June 22 members participated in REACH at Samaritan House, reading to children and distributing books and back packs to them.
We welcomed our newest member, CAPT Brian Smith to the club at our dining out event.
Planning is going on for our November TASTE OF TOWNCENTER RACE commemoration Veterans day the first weekend in November, and our beer tent at the Neptune Festival at the oceanfront the last weekend in September.
We are expanding in all directions! What will next month bring?
