Charlottestville Kiwanis Team Competes in Charlottesville Central Little League
by Jim Hart
Once again this year, the Charlottesville Kiwanis-sponsored team acquitted itself very well amidst a very tough race in the competitive Central Little League Majors Division. With a record of 3 wins and 4 losses, Kiwanis finished its season in third place. Last year, Kiwanis won their division and league championship and was the runner-up in a tightly fought City Championship game. The team was honored at the beginning of a recent University of Virginia baseball game by being called out onto the field and introduced to the crowd. The Kiwanis Club conducted a special service work night in May by attending one of the games at the beautiful Pen Park field. Twenty Kiwanians and their guests enjoyed a real treat as they came out to join the kids, their coaches, and families as they heartily "cheered for Kiwanis."
