My Experience At Key Leader
by Savannah DeRoma, a home-schooled high school student from Fairfax, Virginia
Key Leader educated me about the five key principles of leadership and encouraged me to take an active role in challenging self-growth toward leadership. Our main facilitator represented a role model in that he accepted every challenge and took advantage of every opportunity that crossed his path in life. He represented the character in the movie "Yes Man" to me. The setting of the conference in nature provided a much needed, meditative break-away from the hectic lives we lead. Through Key Leader, I learned about how to better lead by learning how others behave as leaders in the "now." That experience was also worthwhile because I learned how to stand out as a leader so that I can better serve others. Every student should attend and if you are already a leader, you can become a better leader. I loved the opportunity to meet, network with, and form bonds to other peers who share my desire to become a stronger leader. Ever since I've returned from Key Leader, I've been more outspoken and I've set goals in my life.
