Golden-Age Club Scoops Ice Cream
by Pat Taylor/ Kiwanis Beach-Combers
On May 22nd, the Virginia Beach-Combers "Golden-Age" club (our membership weighs-in at 43 strong, at an average age of 80.1 years!) conducted its annual ice-cream service at our local (Norfolk, VA) Easton Pre-School - as part of the school's Annual Olympics. While memories fade at this stage, we do have records that show we've hosted this ice cream service for well over the past 10 years. During a full day of outdoor activity for the pre-kindergarten age children, Beach-Comber Kiwanians "foot the bill" and then spend the day as ice cream servers to some 140 children. An accepted "rule of conduct" among our member-servers allows them no more than a 2-scoop break in either the AM or PM shift! Pictured here is our morning service team, L to R, Ed Frame, "HL" Marks, Dave Williams, and Don Super.
