Fairfax Club Works with Vision of God Clinic in El Salvador
by Rev. Carolyn S. Richar, MDiv, BSN, RN
Fairfax Kiwanis is working with the Vision of God Clinic in El Salvador to provide much-needed medical supplies. The clinic is located in the village of San Luis Talpa near the Pacific coast. There are thousands of children and elderly people without access to medical care due to the high cost of this care and the lack of any insurance or government programs to provide care. Kiwanis Fairfax is providing funding to help pay the $800/month salary of a full-time physician at the clinic - this physician than provides free basic medical care to those in need. Fairfax Kiwanis also puts together first aid backpacks which are distributed at the clinic. These backpacks include vitamins, toothbrushes and toothpaste, protein bars and books in Spanish as well as basic first aid supplies. If your club would like to hear more about this project to help meet the needs of poor children in El Salvador, please contact Rev. Carolyn Richar, Pres. Elect of the Fairfax club, at crichar@capitalhospice.org or call her at her home (703) 425-1069.
