Capital District Goes Country! - 94th Annual Kiwanis Interanational Convention Goes To Nashville June 25th - June 28th, 2009
by Nancy Cressy, District Chair, On To Nashville

HOWDEE!! It's that time of year again! It's time to make reservations to attend the 94th Kiwanis International Convention in "Music City", Nashville, Tennessee! It's the home of Country Music's Hall of Fame & Museum, our Kiwanis Night at the Grand Ole Opry, great BBQs, and line dancing just to name a few. Music abounds from country, jazz, blues, classical to rock 'n' roll. And don't forget to take a side trip to Graceland, home of Elvis, in Memphis before or after the convention. Make it a grand vacation!

A great convention program for clubs has been planned including sessions on membership retention, growth and leadership. There will be exhibits to give you new ideas for service, the Kiwanis Store and a Key Leader for Adults session. Meet new friends and reconnect with 'old' ones.

Do your Kiwanis' business by attending the delegate session and voting for Past-Governor Jerry Peuler, who is running for International Trustee. Four candidates are running for the three vacant positions on the Kiwanis International Board and Jerry needs full support from the Capital District to get elected. Every club must have two (2) delegates at caucus and voting at the Business Session. Suggested delegates are the current President and President Elect. A Past-Lieutenant Governor can be a delegate for your club if necessary. Let's have a full turn out!! (Pictured: Jerry Peuler, Past Governor and Capital District's candidate for KI Trustee in Nashville and Nancy Cressy, Chair of the On-To Nashville Convention, June 25-28, 2009, do some campaigning at the Northern Virginia (NOVA) Mid-Winter, Fairfax, Virginia, on January 24th.)

The beautiful Loews Vanderbilt Hotel has been designated as the official hotel for the Capital District. Save $55.00! Registration for the Convention is $195.00 before May 1st, after May 1st price goes up to $250.00 so register early.

Registration forms for the Convention and Events, plus the Hotel accommodation forms are now available. Go to the Kiwanis International "Convention 2009 Nashville" Web site for all forms, the schedule, convention highlights and places to visit. Check out the website for complete information and "sign up early". Don't miss out - register now!!

See ya'll in Nashville!
