The program included a variety of tributes to Dr. King: Mr.
Rufus Easter performed a piano solo; the queen Street Baptist
Church Sons of Praise performed an interpretative dance and
Mrs. Coretha Holland performed two saxophone solos. Rev.
Vernon Harris, the keynote speaker, spoke about the Civil

heard Dr. King speak first in 1955 and several other times
during the years prior to Dr. King's death. The event was
well received by all. There were four other local Kiwanis
Clubs in attendance including By the Bay, Warwick, Mercury
64 and Hampton clubs.
