How About A Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwich … or 253?
Division 17's Key Club's December Service Project Provides Food for the Sheppard's Table Shelter in Silver Spring

We all know that there are not many things better than a good peanut butter and grape jelly sandwich, perhaps with a cold glass of milk, now and then. I know its one of my favorites. Well, here's something better! How about a real hands-on service project with about forty Montgomery County Maryland Key Club members making two hundred fifty three (253!) of those delicious sandwiches in less than an hour?

That was the project that Key Club Lieutenant Governor Brent Able and his team accomplished at his December President's Council Meeting (PCM) after their business meeting. Once again, a picture is worth a thousand words. Just look at the organized assembly team. They were also trying to break last year's record of 250 sandwiches … and they did! They did not eat one of them, which would have been too much temptation for us as Kiwanians, so we were not allowed to help. Besides, that would not have been a true Key Club record if we had our sticky fingers in it (with gloves, of course).

All the food was delivered the next morning to the Sheppard's Table in Silver Spring, a homeless shelter serving Silver Spring and Washington, DC. Notice the back of their Key Club tee shirt says "We DO - 17 - Eat, Sleep, Serve". They served, advertised and had great FUN doing it! Well done, Key Clubs!
