Kiwanis Club of Frederick

Margie Weaver, Director, Marketing, Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center and Montevue Assisted Living, was a recent speaker to the Kiwanis Club of Frederick. Ms Weaver spoke to the club about the new Center that is scheduled to open In January 2012. She offered a power point program showing pictures of the completed Home and talked about the rooms and other units that are included in the facility. She also gave a brief history of Citizens and Montevue and why new facilities are needed. Kiwanian Ray Ediger is with the speaker.


Ann Burnside Love was a recent speaker to the Kiwanis Club of Frederick. She spoke to the group about her recent knee surgery and how she has managed with walking. Mrs. Love then talked about what she called an adventure with her family when she attended the musical production of "Les Misérables in Concert" with her wheel chair, walker, and ice, in her determination to not let knee surgery curtail her good time. Kiwanian Ray Ediger is with the speaker.


Dr. Ruth Axelrod, Maryland Master Gardner and active in the Frederick County Bay-Wise Program. was a recent speaker to the Kiwanis Club of Frederick. Dr. Axelrod spoke to the club on "What's All This Fuss About the Bay" and addressed the area of how landscaping can benefit the Bay. She also talked about what the major pollutants are that are contributing to the pollution, and talked about what one can do to help in cleaning up the bay. Kiwanian Dr. Ray Ediger is with the speaker.


Pat Fleet, a park nationalist from Frederick County Parks and Recreation, spoke to the Frederick Kiwanis Club recently.  She spoke about the various programs that are offered at Fountain Rock Park and Catoctin Creek Park for children.  Standing with Ms Fleet is Ray Edigar, Kiwanian. 


Julia Cubit, Master Gardiner and Supervisor, Technology Center at Frederick County Public Libraries, recently spoke to the Frederick Kiwanis Club about the growing population of stink bugs in Frederick County.  These bugs were first observed in Allentown, PA in 2001 and have since steadily migrated to other parts of the east coast.  She spoke about what to do with them if you get them in your house.  Kiwanian Ray Edigar is standing with Ms Cubit.
