Charlottesville Kiwanis Cheers on their Little League Team

by Jim Hart

Once again this year, the Charlottesville Kiwanis Club scheduled their regular Monday evening meeting to take place at Pen Park so that members and their guests could cheer on the Kiwanis Little League team and then enjoy a tasty barbecue picnic in the nearby shelter.  The game was interrupted by lightning in the fourth inning with Kiwanis leading Big Jim's.  Kiwanians retreated to the shelter where, thanks to the grilling expertise of Charlie Krizek, Don Foss, and Norm Gutzler the hot dogs, hamburgers, and all the fixins were ready to be served.  When the skies opened up to a torrential downpour, the Kiwanians and their special guests, the head coach and his son, were all warm, dry, and well-fed.   A real treat is in store for any K-Family member who comes out to Pen Park to join the kids and their coaches and families as they heartily "cheer for Kiwanis."
