Humor Helps Others!
by Maureen Miller, President Kiwanis Club of Mid-Montgomery County
The Kiwanis Club of Mid-Montgomery County hosted its third successful Comedy Night Fundraiser on May 18. Benefitting CSAAC (Community Services for Autistic Adults and Children), the evening of laughs was held at the Outta The Way Café in Derwood, Maryland. The event was organized by Ken Watter, past president of the Kiwanis Club of Mid-Montgomery, and Irwin Loring with Kaleidoscope Comedy. Mr. Loring had worked with the Kiwanis club two previous times with successful results, and recently organized a comedy night fundraiser to benefit the Miracle League Foundation as part of a Kiwanis Division 17 fundraiser.
The restaurant served great food to the 60+ attendees for dinner ahead of the show, and patrons donated through 50/50 tickets and a silent auction. The headliner, Mike Eagan, was hilarious, as were the other comedians, including the club's past president Ken Watter (aka: the funniest tax accountant in the Washington, DC area), who opened the show.
The show raised over $800 for CSAAC. Although there is a bit of pre-planning involved in this type of event, it proves that laughter is not only good medicine, it's a fun and easy way to raise money for your favorite charity! For more information on planning a comedy night to benefit a charity your club supports, visit the web page for Kaleidoscope Comedy at http://www.kscopecomedy.com/ or check out the group's Facebook page.

Headliner Mike Eagan keeps the audience in stitches.
