Richmond Kiwanis Assists VHS With Free Family Day Open House
by Ed Stover
The Virginia Historical Society (VHS) Free Family Day Open House took place on Saturday, July 9, 2011. Thanks in part to the Kiwanis Club of Richmond, our co-hosts again this year, the annual event was a huge success. More than 3,500 people visited the museum for the Open House, including hundreds of families who had never been to the VHS before. It was great exposure for the VHS and the Kiwanis Club of Richmond.
The day was full of games, historical demonstrations, music, crafts, prizes, behind-the-scenes tours, a book sale, and much more. Many of the Kiwanis Club members assisted with the "Story of Virginia" family scavenger hunt. ~ Jennifer Guild & Pam Seay (club member), Virginia Historical Society
