Foundation Nearing Goal of $5/Member

by Scott Zimmerman

The Capital District inches closer to the benchmark of $5.00 per member in the quest to support children worldwide!!!

The Capital District of Kiwanis International is making an impressive charge to reach the goal of $5.00 per member for the Kiwanis International Foundation Annual Gift Campaign. We are a mere 25 cents per member average short of the goal and we still have two months left in the fiscal year!!! Capital District is averaging $4.75 per member with 10 Divisions already at or above the $5.00 per member benchmark. Leading the way are our DELMARVA Region Divisions checking in at $6.32 per Kiwanian… (congratulations to Division 11 LTG Marianne Smith) and $6.01 per Kiwanian… (congratulations to Division 15 LTG Barbara Hickman). May I also offer sincere thanks to DELMARVA Trustee Dale Collins. Thank you to everyone in DELMARVA for your understanding of the principals of Philanthropy and more importantly your support of the Kiwanis Mission through your personal actions.

Division 12 has 100% participation from its clubs and is averaging $5.68 per Kiwanian. Thanks to LTG Adam Paul for another impressive year of philanthropic leadership.

The Heart of Virginia Region is standing tall once again as well. Division 4 is averaging $5.50 per Kiwanian and stands to top $6.00 per member once the Division has 100% participation. Good Luck reaching that goal and thank you LTG John Morris, Governor Tom Varner, Key Club guru Joe Stankus and every Kiwanian in Division 4 who has continually supported the Kiwanis mission through your philanthropic devotion. Meanwhile, Division 18 is another Kiwanis International Foundation hero weighing in at $5.42 per Kiwanian with potential to support children even more successfully with the additional input of one outstanding club. Congratulations LTG Steve Miles and every Kiwanian in Division 18 and in all of HEART OF VIRGINIA… Your Kiwanis HEART is beating soundly and is being heard.

Thanks also to Division 23 LTG Tim Meyer (average gift 5.23), Division 1 LTG Marie Quick (average gift $5.22), Division 10 LTG Brian Bell (average gift $5.15), and Division 17 LTG Joyce Sharon (average gift $5.12).

Divisions 3, 5, 8, 9, 13, 20, 21, and 22 are all very close to reaching the benchmark goal of $5.00 per member… in fact each of these divisions is just a few club gifts short… or one simple bake sale or a Happy dollar or an annual gift support drive of helping the Capital District reach our goal. REMEMBER…when we reach $5.00 average per member we become eligible for $10,000.00 (ten thousand dollars) in matching scholarships…$5000.00 from Kiwanis International Foundation matched by $5,000.00  from The Capital District Kiwanis Foundation.

Divisions 2, 14, and 16 are all capable of reaching the goal as well. With support from just a few crucial Kiwanians and Kiwanis Clubs the Capital District is capable of rejoicing at the honorable and attainable level of $5.00 per member annual gift.
