Kiwanis International Convention in Geneva, Switzerland: Concludes a Venue in a Magnificent Host Country
Many Add a Vacation in Europe
A Photo Essay by Past Governor Bob Cressy
Geneva, from July 7 - 10th, 2011
The scenery is beautiful in the Alps and surrounding countryside. Not that North America doesn't have great scenery, but it is easier, less expensive to get to than Europe. So when folks can get the opportunity to go to a Kiwanis International Convention in the foot hills of the Alps, its good to make the best of it with an added vacation. That's what most people did.
The Capital District had a good representation of delegates, members and guests. I'd say they have had an unforgettable vacation. In this report I have not given you much on the scenery of Switzerland. This is a report primarily on the convention itself. Rather than telling you what I'll show you, I hope you'll carve out a little time to sit down, relax and 'see' the convention. The layout is chronological of course. I hope it is not only a reflection for those who attended but also something you could use as a reference for those who did not attend. It could be especially interesting for those who have never experienced an international convention. You can call it a bit of 'Kiwanis Education' and even show the slides at a meeting.
The Capital District convention in Williamsburg on August 18th - 21st is also an opportunity for fellowship, learning more about how Kiwanis works, as well as many opportunities to attend helpful workshops and training sessions. Clubs have a responsibility to have three delegates attend our DCON. The KICON requires two. Take a little vacation, too, for a few days in Williamsburg.
So take a little time, sit back and enjoy the photo essay. At a later time, perhaps we can look at much more of Switzerland's magnificent country with several hundreds (pural) of slides. See you in Williamsburg!
P.S. Heidi says "Hi"!
