The Kiwanis Club of Parkville recently started a new service project. They have been making stuffed cloth dolls for the children in the Ambulatory Surgical Unit of Franklin Square Hospital. The young patients are encouraged to draw features and clothes on the dolls. Medical personnel can also use the doll's body to demonstrate to the children where the surgical procedures, IVs, etc. A couple members of the Parkville Kiwanis cut out and sew the dolls, and at the second meeting of each month, all the other members spend time stuffing the dolls. Every month, Adam Paul, our President-Elect, takes 25 dolls and packs of markers to the hospital, to be distributed to the children. The hospital's nursing staff has expressed their appreciation for this service project.
