Reisterstown
Club Holds 73rd Charter Night, Bake Cookies
by Steve Jenkins
The Kiwanis Club of Reisterstown held it's 73rd Annual Charter
Night on Tuesday, October 14, 2008. This year's President
is Dig DeGarmo. He follows a very productive year of service
projects for our community, led by last year's President,
Stephen M. Jenkins. Mr. DeGarmo is looking forward to continuing
the efforts of the club in the upcoming year. The Kiwanis
Club is growing with the addition of a few new members but
there is always room for more energetic, caring and dedicated
citizens. The affair was held at the Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza
in Timonium. Guest speaker for the evening was Senator Bobby
Zirkin.
On September 30, 2008 the Kiwanis
members and Key Club of Franklin High school met at Reisterstown
United Methodist Church to bake cookies for the troops.
We started at 6:30p.m. with mixing and baking the cookies,
After that we cooled and placed in plastic zip lock bags
and packed in boxes for the troops in Afghanistan. We actually
made 50 batches of cookies. and mailed them the next day.
We enjoyed doing this and we believe this is what our Kiwanis
Club is all about. SERVICE FOR THOSE IN NEED.
