Stauton
Club Celebrates Lee-Jackson Day
by Lucinda Cooke
The Staunton Kiwanis Club recently celebrated their 87th Lee-Jackson Day with a program about the 19th century figure, John Brown Baldwin. More than 100 Kiwanians, including interclubs and special guests heard John Hildebrand talk about this important local figure in Virginia politics and education. Following his presentation, Hildebrand signed copies of his new book, The Life and Times of John Brown Baldwin, 1820-1873: A Chronicle of Virginia's Struggle with Slavery, Civil War, and Reconstruction.
