Thank you once again for your donations to the Initiative for Africa. Our total

go, but we are counting on your continued support and
are optimistic that we will reach our goal of $30,000.
Some donors have arranged matching funds from their
employers. If your employer is equally generous, we
ask you to take advantage of this arrangement....more

Key Leader Registration Open - 45 More Students Needed!
by
Nicole McDermott [nicmcd@gmail.com]
Key Leader
is fast-approaching on March 27-29, in Millersville, Maryland,
at Arlington Echo Outdoor Education Center. Every Kiwanis Club
is being asked to sponsor at least 1-2 students to attend our
event in March, and each club that does will receive a Key
Leader banner patch!
15 students are registered right now, and, together, we need to ensure that at
least 45 more students are registered. Key Leader is a leadership education weekend
for high school students focusing on the concept of service leadership and five
principles: integrity, growth, respect, community and excellence. The weekend
is casual and includes hands-on exercises; writing and reflection activities;
cooperative, team activities; physical challenges and more. Students arrive between
4-6 p.m. on Friday and depart between 11 a.m.-12 noon on Sunday. Key Leader was
created by Kiwanis International in 2005. This is a program every Kiwanian can
feel proud of....more |

Learning
To Plant Potatoes
by
Governor Tom Ganse
"Give
a man a fish and you feed him
for a day. Teach a man to fish
and you feed him for a lifetime."
- Chinese Proverb
Let's
set aside the fact that my idea
of catching fish is having the

toss them to me, wrapped and ready
to go, and look at the wisdom in
that statement with a different
example: "Give a man a potato and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to grow potatoes
and you feed him for a lifetime." ...more |
