Woodbridge Kiwanis Club Celebrates 63 years of Serving our Community

by Brian Bell

On Thursday night, March 18th, at the Montclair Country Club, the Woodbridge Kiwanis Club celebrated 63 years of proudly serving the eastern Prince William County community. Club President, Mitchell Colston, welcomed all the attendees to the evening's activities. The Guest of Honor was Howell Barnes, a Charter Member of the Club. Also present were Past Governor Warren Kane, District Trustee Brian Bell, Division 10 Lt Gov Lisa Baird, and Division 20 Lt Gov Larry Demarest. Rebekah McGee, the Program Director of ACTS Emergency Assistance, was the featured speaker. Rebekah emphasized how much the Kiwanis Club has helped ACTS serve the community, especially at the old Food Pantry. She highlighted the construction of the "Bread Shed" (which is still being used daily), the renovation of the interior of the pantry, and the installation of a food storage trailer next to the pantry. She was very appreciative of the Club's efforts in helping ACTS with their pursuit of "People Helping People". Also providing remarks regarding Woodbridge Kiwanis Club support were Major Hilda Chadwick, Commander of the Prince William Salvation Army, and April Chervenka, Area Manager of Prince William County Boys and Girls Clubs. Attending the festivities were members of the Forest Park, Hylton, and Gar-Field Key Clubs, the NVCC Woodbridge CKI Club and members of Manassas-Battlefield, Arlington, Fairfax and Mount Vernon Kiwanis Clubs. President Colston concluded the evening's festivities, stating that the Woodbridge Kiwanis Club was looking forward to providing continuing service to our community for many more years.
