Wheaton-Silver Spring Club Benefits from Joint Golf Fundraiser

by Eddie Koebke

Marlayna Proctor from the Regional Institute for Children & Adolescents (JLG-RICA) presents Past Lt. Governor Eddie Koebke of the Wheaton-Silver Spring Kiwanis Club of Wheaton, Maryland a check for $5,012.09. This is the club's portion of the total proceeds from the Wheaton-Silver Spring/JPG-Rica annual golf tournament which is held every June. The proceeds from this tournament are divided between JLG-RICA and the Kiwanis Club. Club proceeds are allocated to different projects within their respective community while JLG-RICA uses the funds towards their student needs. Since this partnership began in 1999, the total money raised for both causes is just over $90,000! JLG-RICA, which opened in 1980, is a community based public treatment, education, and residential facility serving children and adolescents, grades 5th-12th, with severe emotional disturbances.
