Kiwanis Club of Virginia Beach Town Center

In the attached picture from a past on-hands activity with Stand Up For Kids - left to right- Co-directors of marketing Mackenzie Morris and Jenny Reynolds, and Club Members Chris Hall and Katie Warnken. In the Fall we collected Winter coats and jackets for the homeless youth.
Our goal in the next several weeks is to collect toiletry items and clothing and food items to fill backpacks for over 25 identified homeless youngster between the ages of 6 and 17 who are basically living on the streets of Virginia Beach. Everything in between , such as snack bars, raisins, pop-open soups, spaghetti, fruits, gum, band-aids, toothpaste, combs, brushes, sanitizing wipes and more. Our deadline is March 30.
We were shocked to learn that there is at least one child in most school classes in our city that is without a permanent address, living in cars or in motels with their families besides those without families living on the streets.
Our club continues to grow, with three new members since the beginning of the year. Our monthly socials have resumed with a huge turnout for the first this year. We will also be supporting a regional dine out at the Dockside Restaurant on March 8th, where 10% of all the Kiwanian check will go to Kiwanis charities.
Our sponsored Aktion Club(People First) is once again active and growing with several of our club members attending their meetings to show support. These special adults go to Washington and lobby for the rights of handicapped individuals.
Even though Spring seems to be far away we are already stepping up our plans for our annual Golf Tournament, to be held this year on May 18, with the hope of increasing participation to at least 100 golfers! We have also organized committees to launch this year's Town Center 5K race and taste of Town Center. We do not stand still!!
