Kiwanis Visits Berlin Intermediate School Before End of School Year
by David Landis
At Berlin Intermediate School the Motto is "Attitude Is Everything" as seen in the picture of Kiwanis Club President, Corky Widerman (L) as she listens to Dr. John Gaddis (R), Principal of BIS, speak to members of the Kiwanis Club who attended the breakfast for the club hosted by BIS. In November of 2008, BIS chartered a new K-Builders Club which is a school version of Kiwanis. The K-Builders officers attended the affair to experienced a meeting of the parent club before escorting members about the 58,000 square foot school to learn about the school and its offerings. Kiwanis contributes funds annually to the "Standout Program" of BIS where three elements are promoted, namely, Believe, Inquire and Succeed. Of the 725 students, about 40 are members of K-Builders. K-Builders are committed to performing one new project of service every month of the school year. BIS is also honored to have been named the "Maryland Center for Character Education" School of the Year. Kiwanis is lucky to have such an affiliation with these outstanding young students and future leaders and Worcester County can be proud of BIS, its students and faculty and their accomplishments.
