Coastal Delaware Kiwanis Hosts Christmas House
by Rosemary Cummings
Coastal DE Kiwanis Club hosted its first Annual Christmas House just before Christmas. Just six weeks before the site of the October Haunted House, the Kiwanis house was now transformed into a Christmas Cottage, with a brightly lit and decorated Christmas tree. Outside, candy canes and garland welcomed young visitors and their parents while inside garlands of light and green wreaths were around windows. Ms. Margie and Ms. Regina hosted the refreshment table which was laden with home-made cookies and lemonade. Ms. Julie invited the guests to play Christmas bingo and Elves Robin and John assisted the kids in making cards for parents and Santa. President Jim Kunkle welcomed Santa Kind who greeted each child, while Key Club elves handed out stockings filled with treats and other elves helped each child pick out a toy gift to fill their West Marine shopping bag. The Key Club elves provided a musical treat with festive singing, solos from band members, and the color guard giving a special candy cane review. Then the K-Kids joined in the fun singing about Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, and the Twelve Days of Christmas. A wonderful time was had by all.
