Coastal Delaware Kiwanis Welcomes Newest Members. At its first evening meeting of the new Kiwanis year, Coastal Kiwanis inducted three new members, with PLG Charles Kind conducting the induction ceremony. Sponsor Joe Brake introduced his second member this year, Troy Hazzard. Troy is from Lincoln, DE and commutes to his job in the Wilmington area and works with kids at the Slaughter Neck Community Action Center on his spare time. During the ceremony Joe pinned on Troy's K pin and then Joe received his silver Key as part of the 1-2-3 program. PLG Charles then had the honor of inducting his son, John B and daughter-in-law, Robin R Kind, who live in Long Neck, as the Club's newest members. John B has been going to Kiwanis meetings with his father (a 40 year member) since he was a very young boy. In addition to the K pin, each new member received a Kiwanis cap to wear during service and fundraising events and an orientation package with information about the history of Kiwanis and of the Club. John and Robin had their service debut in October at the Haunted house as they assisted young guests with games and pumpkin painting, and again at the Food Drive in November. Troy brings youth from the CAC to help with the Food Drives.

On November 17, 2011, the Woodbridge Kiwanis Club provided Thanksgiving Dinner for the senior citizens of eastern Prince William County, Virginia, at the Woodbridge Senior Citizens Center. About 125 senior citizens attended and had a great time. They not only had a wonderful turkey meal, but also sang and danced during the event. Our club members received lots of "thank you's" from the seniors. Members of the NVCC CKI Club, Woodbridge Campus, helped serve the meal and cleanup afterwards. The Woodbridge Kiwanis Club has been providing this meal for five years, with the assistance of CKI Club members. We could not have done it without their help. Our members had as much fun as the senior citizens did, and we plan on continuing the tradition each year!

The Kiwanis Club of Seaford are very busy this holiday season. In addition to things like Salvation Army bell ringing, shopping for Santa, and helping with the Christmas Parade, Kiwanis plays a role in the Tree Lighting Ceremony for the City of Seaford. Above is a picture of Santa (Kiwanian Frank Raskauskas) with the Elves. The Elves are part of the Kiwanis family: they are K-Kids from Blades Elementary School. The Christmas parade is on Saturday, December 3rd. The Kiwanis Club of Seaford has been chosen to be the Grand Marshall. This is the first time a group, rather than an individual, will serve as Grand Marshall. To quote C.M. Kohlenberg, who is in charge of the Kiwanais Float "Ken Madden and Vance Kesler, two fine statesman representing the Kiwanis Foundation, will ride in the pick up towing the KIwanis family float. Linn Duryea has indicated there are approximately 8-10 K-Kids interested in riding on the float." Ron Breeding is in charge of the parade line-up. You can imaging what a chore this is, with almost 150 parade entries. Ron and the Kiwanis members have been doing this for over 20 years.
