Ashland VA Club Hosts Another Successful Holiday Parade
by Edwin Hutchinson
On Sunday afternoon, November 20, 2011, Ashland Kiwanians successfully orchestrated their largest and most visible service project of the year - the Ashland Holiday Parade. "This was the 42nd year for the parade," said Rob Wait, Parade Committee chair, "and the 14th year in which our Club, alone, handled the planning, participant registration and all other aspects of managing such an event."
The weather cooperated this year, and 105 units from all around central Virginia participated with approximately 2,250 individuals in the parade. The event, conducted for the children and their families of the Town of Ashland and Hanover County, included several Kiwanis floats and the participation of the Club's sponsored Aktion, Key and CKI Clubs. More than 5,000 viewers were present along the 1 ½ mile parade route.
