New Young Professional Educators Club
by Judy Pantelides
This is a photo of Division 13's newest Kiwanis club, the Young Professional Educators Club which organized with 29 members on July 28th. The majority of the club members graduated or are in the Master of Arts in Teaching program at Christopher Newport University. Judy Pantelides, Division 13 Lt. Governor, worked with her CNU grad students as well as retired teachers to form this new club. The first new club in Division 13 this year, the Kiwanis Club of Downtown Hampton, which chartered in March is the sponsor for this new club.
The YPEKC club just returned from it's first service project this past weekend when 11 of its' members plus the President of the sponsoring club, Ruthann Kellum, traveled to Belize to provide staff development for the teachers at the Holy Cross Anglican School on the island of San Pedro.
While there, the YPEKC club also interclubbed with the newly rechartered Kiwanis Club of Belize City last Thursday at noon. The two clubs hope to begin a partnership in the sharing of ideas and even possibly work together on projects to support Holy Cross.
