Kiwanis Barbeques for Scholarships
by David Landis
It was hot, it was good, and it was a success. Kiwanians (L to R) Phil Lassiter, chairman of the event, Mark Page, Bud Breidenstein, Elmer Muth and Cliff Andersen take a break to pose for a picture. The Carolina Pork BBQ is an annual event of the Kiwanis Club of Greater Ocean Pines / Ocean City to raise money for scholarships awarded to local deserving high school seniors. Preparations begin at 4 AM when the cooking is started to be ready to serve by noon. August 9th was a warm day, especially behind the grill, but it was worth the effort. Honorary Kiwanian and local Star Charities president, Anna Foultz ,who runs many of her own fundraisers, pitched in to help and Kiwanian Mary Lee Jansen is shown preparing the delicious BBQ sandwiches. Thanks to all who turned out in support of the club.
