My Key Leader Experience
by Joseph (Fairfax, VA)
I learned many of new and exiting things at Key Leader such as the importance of integrity, leadership, community. For example, I learned that there a many types of leadership, and one of the most important servant leadership. I was very inspired by the stories introduced by the speakers in Key Leader weekend. I was especially intrigued by the story of "Larry." Larry is a man who, despite profound physical and mental disabilities, as well as financial struggles, devotes each and every day of his life to help fundraise for charity money. This inspired me because when I thought of how someone who has so little can give so selflessly, it put me in touch with the more selfless part of myself . Apart from learning about leadership, I also made new friends for a lifetime and made new bonds with adult leaders who stand out as great role models. I also thought the people, activities and food there was great! I can't wait to go again!
There will be two Spring 2011 Key Leader weekends - April 15-17, 2011 - Williamsburg, Virginia AND May 13-15, 2011 - Millersville, Maryland. Registration will open in January 2011 for both of these events. Kiwanis Clubs should begin identifying students as soon as possible.
