Kiwanis International Foundation News
by Scott Zimmerman
I have great news to share with the Capital District! The Kiwanis International Foundation Board has agreed to expand its matching scholarship opportunity for the year 2010/2011. As our Kiwanis International Foundation Annual Club Gifts are received and recorded we are getting closer and closer to receiving up to ten $500.00 matching scholarships for our Key Clubs or CKI members. That is $5000.00 worth of scholarships which are usually matched by our Capital District Foundation to support our Kiwanis SLP members.
This represents $10,000.00 in scholarships and all we have to do is contribute $5.00 per club member (based on the October 1, 2010 club membership number). If the Capital District averages $5.00 per member we automatically qualify for these Scholarships. If we only reach $4.99 per member we stand to lose two of those opportunities.
We don't want to let that happen!
The good news is that many of your clubs have already reached the benchmark level of $5.00 per member. In fact one of our clubs has already contributed $8.33 per member. Thank you, Denbigh Kiwanis in Division 23. Two of our clubs have donated $7.14 per member…Thank you Petersburg in Division 18 and Front Royal in Division 19.
Special thanks to Lieutenant Governors Marianne Smith from Division 11 ($5.17 average per member) and Sharon Joyce from Division 17 ($5.12 average per member) whose divisions have already reached the benchmark level… I also have it on good authority that the clubs from Division 23 led by LTG Tim Meyer have reached the benchmark…at least once the checks reach Kiwanis International.
Please make your annual gift contribution today and let's keep helping the children of the world as only Kiwanians can!
