Kiwanis Education Minute

Here are this month's "Kiwanis Education Minutes" subjects. Just read one each of your weekly meetings so members get to know Kiwanis!

  • The Capital District was organized on August 29th. , 1918. The first two clubs in the district were Baltimore City and Washington D. C.

  • Alfred G. Goodrich was the first Governor of the Capital District. He was elected at the first District Convention in Baltimore. He served two terms as Governor, the only person to do so.

  • The first National Convention was held on May 18 & 19, 1916 in Cleveland, Ohio. At this convention George F. Hixon was elected to the first of his two terms. He serves as President of the National Kiwanis Club.

  • In November of 1919 the first club outside of the United States was formed. The Kiwanis Club of Hamilton, Ontario was organized making the organization international.
