Kids Against Hunger
by Hal Jewel, Kiwanis Club of Northwest Washington, DC
I have been asked to chair a Kids Against Hunger program for the Region. It is an international program of feeding children - more particularly "starving children worldwide." We would be joining forces with an organization, Kids Against Hunger that has been in existence for over twenty years. They are a not for profit organization whose mission is to provide fully nutritious food to impoverished children around the world. I am accepting this invitation to chair this program with the desire to help in the fight against hunger worldwide. There is an opportunity for all to serve in this program with hands on packaging, providing space to work, tables, chairs, workers treats, transportation of workers, office coordination, etc.
You can find more information about the organization, Kids Against Hunger at their websites www.kidsagainsthunger.com or more by emailing info@kidsagainsthunger.com.
What's next??
1. To form a real committee of those willing to make time for this project.
2. To raise the money to buy the food and pay the freight (about $80,000) which will feed about 285,000 children one serving each.
3. Decide and arrange location and date for our packaging event.
4. Decide towhere our packaged goods will be shipped
When asked to serve please say " YES" and then do it. If you are not asked directly, call me and I will tell you where and when the next meeting will occur. Send me your e-mail address and you will be on the KAH list. halj4713@aol.com phone 240-417-6605.
We will not limit this program to our Region or to Kiwanis members alone. We will invite our spouses, neighbors and friends to join with us. The hunger is real and the need is great. Many lives will be saved "One Child At A Time,"
WE CAN DEFEAT HUNGER THROUGHOUT THE WORLD!
