LaPlata Club and March Of Dimes March For Babies
By Amanda Hill
The Kiwanis Club of LaPlata once again took on the challenge of marching in the annual March of Dimes' March for Babies. Despite the rain and chilly weather, the La Plata team were ready to "strut their stuff" on the morning of the walk, April 25th. And strut they did! Two members, Linda Kandel and Jonnie Mann, were leading the 3 mile walk at a fairly brisk pace, until I lost sight of them around the mile and a half point. We all finished in less than an hour and a half, and had a great time together! The March for Babies is a yearly activity that allows members to contribute in different ways, so that people who can't make the walk can still help with a great cause. The La Plata team was able to donate $473 to the March of Dimes through individual fundraising and club members "emptying their pockets." La Plata club members also helped with set up and other administrative tasks before and after the march. The other two Kiwanis Clubs of Charles County participated as well.
