Chesterfield Kiwanis aids "Tools for School" Project
by Charlie Adams, Immediate Past President
Chesterfield Kiwanians participated for the second year in the "Tools for School" project coordinated by Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Social Services. "The Tools for School program provides essential school supplies to hundreds of children whose families are served by the Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Department of Social Services to ensure a positive start to the school year."
The Kiwanis Club of Chesterfield was provided with a list of student's first names, the schools they attended and a list of school supplies each one needed. Armed with this information, club members shopped for backpacks, notebooks, pens, pencils, binders, composition books, highlighters and so forth for those children in need. Chesterfield Kiwanis spent over $1000 to make sure that fifteen Chesterfield County elementary, middle and high schools students had a backpack full of supplies to begin the school year properly equipped. We are very proud to be a part of this extremely worthwhile project and look forward to "Serving the Children" in our community by providing school supplies again next year.
