Kiwanis Club of Woodbridge Hosts Key Club Officer Training

by Al Knehans (photos by Brian Bell)

The Kiwanis Club of Woodbridge, Virginia, hosted its third annual training session for incoming Key Club officers in Prince William County at Forest Park High School on Wednesday afternoon, 28 September, 2011. Attendees included members of the Key Clubs from Potomac, Brentsville, Forest Park, Gar-Field, Osbourn and Stonewall Jackson High Schools and the Northern Virginia Community College CKI Club, Woodbridge Campus. Also attending were CKI LTG Stacy Whitehouse and Key Club LTG Kyle West. Highlighting the agenda was the power point presentation on "WELCOME KEY CLUBBERS and other Kiwanis Family Members" by Rachel Villarroel, President the NVCC CKI Club. Rachel developed the very professional presentation, which included team exercises and generated strong audience participation. She demonstrated excellent leadership and communication skills, knowledge of the subject, and sense of humor in keeping the Key Club officers engaged. Rachel received a well-deserved round of applause for her efforts. Following pizza and soft drinks provided by Woodbridge Kiwanis SLP Chair Al Knehans, an extended question and answer session concluded the training. The event lasted nearly three hours and no one left early. Everyone agreed that it was an extremely productive session. Thanks again Rachel!

We offer our full support of the 2011-2012 Kiwanis Leadership Team. Division 17’s Lieutenant Governor Joyce Sharon had a novel idea and coordinated that well with her club presidents. She asked them to review their year and select a club member for the “Unsung Hero’s Award” to be given to a Kiwanian who demonstrated outstanding leadership and consistent service to their clubs...more
