The "K-Family Weekend" Brings Together the Key Club & CKI Boards with Kiwanis Leadership Team
a Photo Essay by Immediate Past Governor Bob Cressy

Have you ever been on a "K-Family Weekend"? You'd never forget it, I'll tell you. Just what is a K-Family weekend anyway? Well, its definition is really the Kiwanis Family Weekend. Its purpose is to gather the current Key Club Board, the CKI Board and the new Kiwanis leadership team, especially all of the 2008-2009 Lieutenant Governors, SLP advisors and K-Family Governors. They assemble for most of three days to work and play together, to share ideas, plans and to get to know one another while coordinating their goals. more or view event photo album

Rehoboth Beach Club Celebrates 80 Years of Community Service
by IPG Bob Cressy

The Kiwanis Club of Rehoboth Beach celebrated its 80th Anniversary with a dinner, awards presentations, and installation of officers for 2008-2009 at the elegant Rehoboth Beach Country Club on September 25th. The club was founded July 16th, 1928, and is one of the oldest clubs in Capital District Kiwanis. It was a dark, rainy and windy night from the tropical storm... and a good time was had by all. Stoic people, these Kiwanians!

President Rosemary Cummings called the diner meeting to order and turned the proceedings over to Past President Judge James G. Horn to lead the festivities. Well, a picture or two is worth a thousand words. Take a look. It was a fun evening. Not so 'by the way', IPG Bob Cressy presented the Rehoboth Beach Club, President George Blacklock and then Secretary Rosemary Cummings "Distinguished Club for 2006-2007" status. This is a coveted award and earned though the hard club work and involvement of all members. Congratulations!

Always remember that as a Master Of Ceremonies you should conduct yourself with dignity and decorum. MC and Past President Judge James G. Horn presided over the evening with just the right tone. It's called FUN!
Distinguished indeed! Earning the honor of Distinguished Club for 2006-2007 Rosemary Cummings, then Secretary, and President George Blacklock (not shown) are presented Distinguished Club pins and banner patch by Distinguished Lieutenant Governor Rose Poole, Division 11. IPG Bob Cressy participated in the award ceremony, with most sincere congratulations!
Capital District Kiwanis Governor Art Riley presents a surprise Kiwanis International George F. Hixson Award to President Rosemary Cummings on behalf of her Club in thanks for her service and dedication. Recognition well deserved.
Now, Judge James Horn was in on this surprise award for Rosemary, but in turn Jim was surprised by a Hixson Award from the Club presented by Rosemary. Neither knew of the other's pending award. Who says a club can't keep a secret? Good work!
Current Division 11 Lieutenant Governor Alan Kujala is shown with Rosemary. Alan was the installation official for the 2008-2009 Club Officers and Board of Directors. A very nice, well planned evening.
