Woodbridge HS Key Club Coat/Blanket Drive
by Leon Reed
The Woodbridge High School Key Club conducted a coat and blanket drive during November and December. More than 300 warm items were collected from the Woodbridge HS community. Items were donated to the Hilda Barg Center. Last spring, the Woodbridge HS Key Club took the initiative to create a "Woodbridge High School Memorial Garden" to honor members of the Woodbridge community who have passed away. An existing garden (the student smoking area, many years ago) was given a complete makeover, with landscaping, new bushes and trees, and a stone identifying it as the memorial garden. A bench was installed and a tree was planted in honor of a student who died in an auto accident last year. The club is planning commemorations this spring for a student and two custodians who passed away; this month, the club also staged a fundraiser to raise funds for continuing maintenance and improvements. More than $400 was collected.
