Kiwanis Keeps Runners Wet and Happy
by Thomas Garner
This year's Richmond Marathon was a huge success with a record 17,073 people participating in the event. Just as impressive was the turnout of Kiwanians who volunteered to make sure the runners were well hydrated. Members from our club joined forces with the Maggie Walker Governor's School and Benedictine College Preparatory School Key Clubs, the VCU CKI Club and the Richmond Tri-Club to prepare and hand out drinks from 18 tables at the Science Museum water stop. Thanks to all of those who were able to lend a few hours of their time!
Santa Claus Visits Children's Hospital Party
by Harold Gibson
"Santa Claus is Coming to Town" were the happy words sung by Susan Greenbaum at the 57th annual Kiwanis of Richmond Children's Hospital Christmas Party. Bill McAllister recruited a record number of club members, as well as Key Club members, to share festivities and gifts with the children. Santa's visit brought big smiles when he presented candy canes and his helpers in Santa Hats helped open gifts of toys and clothes. It was a Merry Christmas celebration for all!
