Great Bridge Kiwanis Holiday Spirit
by Bob Powers
Holiday Service from Great Bridge Kiwanis.
After a short meeting on 6 Dec, our members scattered. Some went to Tee Wen Nursery to pick up poinsettias, then on to our adopted school, Rena B Wright Primary. We gave each faculty and staff member a poinsettia in appreciation for the incredible job they do for their students. Other members went to the E R Jones HeadStart classroom for our quarterly Reading is Fundamental visit. In addition to reading to the kids, we distributed the stockings we had stuffed at out annual holiday party. A few unfortunate members went to work.

We tried something different with our annual holiday party this year.
Usually, we meet at someone's home for a potluck and during the evening we fill stocking for the children at the two HeadStart classrooms where we have our Reading is Fundamental program. This year, to generate awareness of Kiwanis in our community, we went public. The party was held at a Buffalo Wild Wings and when we finished eating, we set up the assemble line in the center of the restaurant and filled the stockings.
We did catch the attention of some of the customers and got a couple of good membership leads.
