K-Kids Deliver Happy Feet Socks
by Bruce Malkin
The K-Kids is a community service club at Stratford Landing Elementary School. It is sponsored by the Mount Vernon Kiwanis Club. On December 4, eight K-Kids visited Paul Spring Retirement Community on Fort Hunt Road, and delivered to all the senior residents that were available a pair of hand-decorated socks, which they call "Happy Feet Socks" because they decorate them by sewing "Ho Ho" on them. Four parents participated too. The group was led by Lindsey Mongan, K-Kids President, and her account of the event follows:
"Mr. Malkin, On Friday the Stratford Landing K-Kids visited the Paul Spring Retirement Home, and delivered "Happy Feet Socks" that said, "Ho Ho," on the bottom. The residents loved them! It was also fun for the K-Kids that went because we got to talk to the residents and see them smile. Our next project is to sell ornaments that we made at the last meeting at the Kiwanis Christmas Tree sale. We make different style ornaments and they are beautful. We have a great group of K-Kids this year, and we all enjoy it very much! Best, Lindsey Mongan"
