Kiwanis Club of St. Mary's County, Key Club, K-Kids, CKI News

(Above) Adult and volunteers help at Greenwell State Park. Adult and student volunteers who are members of the Kiwanis Club of St. Mary's County, CKI Club at St. Mary's College of Maryland, Key Club at St. Mary's Ryken High School and Key Club and Cross Country team at Great Mills High School joined together to help clean up and perform maintenance projects at Greenwell State Park in September. Altogether, 72 students and 15 adults combined to volunteer for over 380 service hours with such projects as painting, cutting bamboo, and trail maintenance. Additional students from Northpoint, Westlake, and Leonardtown High Schools also participated in the service project. After the project, the Kiwanis Club hosted a picnic lunch for all the volunteers.
(Above) K-Kids Club elects student officers. Students in the K-Kids Club at the Lexington Park Elementary School Boys & Girls Club participated in secret ballot elections for this year's officers in October. Student candidates made posters and gave speeches prior to the election. The student-led club plans community service projects and fundraisers that will improve their school and their community. Past K-Kids service projects have included canned food drives, making scarves for senior citizens, writing cards and sending gifts to military members stationed overseas, and much more. The K-Kids Club is co-sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of St. Mary's County and the CKI Club of St. Mary's College of Maryland. Officers L-R: Tyriq Green (Sergeant-At-Arms), Sean O'Roark (Treasurer), Aliyah Campbell (Vice President), Maddie Troyan-Moore (President), and Danielle Wenk (Secretary). All the student officers are in the 4th grade this year.
(Above) Key Club support elementary school carnival. Key Club members from Great Mills High School volunteered at the Greenview Knolls Elementary School carnival (the school PTA's primary fundraiser) in October and had fun supervising various games for the children. Key Club students operated games like bean-bag toss, bowling, face painting, shuffleboard, craft tables, and twister. Many of the Key Club members attended Greenview Knolls as children and were happy to return to support their alma mater while having fun playing games with the children. Great Mills High School Key Club is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of St. Mary's County.
(Above) Great Mills Key Club support the homeless in Southern Maryland. Key Club members from Great Mills High School collected donations of toiletries and other small gifts to be donated toward the Key Club Division 22 holiday shoebox project. The students filled 4 shoeboxes and took them to the Key Club Division 22 division council meeting in November.
